don't buy it!!
this is a nice enough GPS unit, but if you have a problem like I did, forget about any real help from TomTom.
for one, they give you 72 hours (3 days) to respond to any response they give, but they don't hold to that themselves. took me 5 days to get my first response. I still have not gotten any satisfaction from TomTom.
I simply wanted a newer more updated map. I paid .95 for a download of a map. when I tried to install onto my TomTom, the unit tells me there isn't enough memory. BUT, the software will remove some unused stuff and get the room I need, cool! however, the whole process froze up for over an hour, so I shut it down (no longer online for download, just communication between my HP and the TomTom unit). tried several more times, but now each time it tells me, it cannot free up enough memory for the new map. TomTom support tells me to move the current map to my computer, then I can install the new one... NOT!! still tells me there isn't enough memory. so now my GPS is totally worthless -- it has no map!! several times more back and forth with TomTom support and I am still in the same position. I have asked for my money back for the map (figure I have lost the money to purchase the GPS), but TomTom has taken to ignoring me. at this time I am updating the support question every 3 days to keep it active, but get no answer from TomTom.

GPS TomTom 330S vs. Garmin Zumo (motorcycle)
I figure I'm a pretty good GPS test rider for a couple reasons.
One because I use GPS at least 5 times a day, 5 days a week to find addresses in high traffic conditions.
And two, because my sense of direction and memory is probably below average.
Since my zumo stopped working I've borrowed a TomTom from my son and been using it all this week in the 'take no prisoners' traffic conditions of Orange County. The TT and Garmin program for putting in a destination are a bit different. And I've found the TT to be faster with less room for error. The TomTom's directions given while driving are way clearer and easier to understand while driving. The Garmin voice directions will give you street names which sounds like a good idea in theory, in practice it only complicates things. I shut the voice directions off on the Garmin for this reason. I also stopped using the map display on the Garmin and started using only text directions, because that was the only way I could stay far enough ahead of where my next turn on the freeway was going to be. That way I could read down the text, past all updates of what I was passing, and get to the next 'real' direction change I would need to make. I actually ordered a TT while in Palm Springs during my trip without 'text to speech' because my experience with Garmin's was so bad. Later after using the borrowed TT, I canceled that order. And reordered the TT with 'text to speech' because it worked so well on the borrowed unit.
The TT gives more clear visual directions as well, and large enough count down to the next turn that I don't have to have my reading glasses hanging off my nose to read them.
My perception buying a motorcycle specific GPS was that I was getting a much more robust unit. And it is, in that it's waterproof and has a much more durable case and mounting system. But other that, I don't think they're anymore reliable than an automotive unit (my Zumo's broken twice) that's 1/6th the price. Garmin has a 0 flat rate for repair, I order a new TT for 0. And they make a lot of aftermarket motorcycle mounts for it. This last time my Zumo broke a friend was nice enough to point me to a replacement touch screen and I've got one those ordered from china. Hopefully that will fix the Garmin and I'll probably put it up for sale. Maybe I'll include a couple of touch screen replacement pictures. So bottom-line, I'd say don't be like me and spend 0 on a motorcycle specific GPS. Get an automotive unit of your choice, (I recommend TomTom) buy yourself an aftermarket mount, and keep it out of the rain. When it breaks, 0 replace the unit.
The ability to make routes on Garmin's Map source has been difficult enough for me that I haven't chosen to use it.
I've followed some routes. Like the one Chuck made and emailed to me. It was a back roads trip to Alice's restaurant that was kind of fun to follow. As it worked out we got separated early on in the trip and each followed the same route and met at Alice's. I'm thinking the ability to load Google Map tracks might be a plus for me with the Tomtom. But I'll have to wait and see. Or it might make Garmin's Map source seem easy in comparison. But if it will load. There's some great routes on Google Maps that I'd be more than happy to use without changes. What I have done with the zumo is find roads on Google Maps, then browse them on my zumo, (not Map source), then 'touch screen' and point on the road and save it to favorites.
Then when I get within strike range, I select favorites, and it lists them in order of closeness. Then I can decide from there which one to choose next. That way I'm letting the GPS do what it does best, straight to a destination, as opposed to certain route. I might change my mind and find a road on the way that looks better, and it will just recalculate till it uses the road I chose to get to the point I selected. Actually I've wanted to convert Google Map tracks to something I could use on the zumo ever since I've gotten the zumo.

Very powerful unit
I have had this unit for a few years and was VERY satisfied with it until I traveled across country. The map is not 100% accurate. I would be traveling on the highway in places and it showed me way off into the bushes. The gps chip in the unit is one of the most powerful I have seen. I am inside the house about 5 feet from a window and it picks up the satellites. This is good for cities.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi which has a more accurate map of the USA and Canada, but I find planning for a trip, the TomTom is far easier to plan a long trip with lots of side stops and vias. The Garmin is far superior to the TomTom.
I plan to get the Western Europe map and try it out for accuracy. From what I read and observed, Garmin North America map is more accurate, but in Europe and the rest of the world TomTom is king.

Better than expected
Extremely useful to me. I reviewed the ratings on TomTom XL 330-S before purchasing and all the good things said was true. Very easy to install and use. Had no trouble hearing vocal as some stated. It is perfect for me.

First GPS
The instructions are just pictures and I had some questions that they didn't answer. Couldn't get the voice to work initally, but found a 12 year old, who figured it out. Can be touchy to use, but a great deal for the price.

Garmin and Magellan are sub-categories of points of interest such as restaurants: Italian, Greek, and so does TomTom. Not even to view a complete list of restaurants, if you write a name, it was found. This is not acceptable in a new city, how am I supposed to know what name to write an Italian restaurant? I would not recommend anyone on this TomTom. Rating: 2 / 5

I’ve never been more disappointed in a company I’m TomTom. I have for Christmas 2008. You must go, not the update. . . everything was good. In June, I updated, but not used very little. . . maybe twice. We get to where we wanted to go, you connect to your computer, download updates, but no updates are installed. I contacted TomTom, even attached a scanned copy of my receipt to my support question, as requested. They sent me a new (refurbished) one, the same thing. . . a new / refurbished one, same thing. . . . Another new / restored, same thing. Finally, I sent a really new, not refurbished. . . the same thing. So that is my computer and have no one, it’s true, nobody can even try to help understand what might be on my team was prevented from intalling updates. I just wanted to continue to send me another drive. What is a red herring. . . works fine on my computer in January. So here I am with a GPS it has spent $ 250 that I can just go on the road. Once there are new roads, etc. I can not update, I can not add points of interest, voice, nothing. I could spend $ 75 for a GPS that does just that. They did not refund or exchange for a different model, even if I have the receipt. I’ve never owned an electronic product that does not support to help me with the product is compatible with my computer. . . TomTom until I lived. Please do not take chances with this company. Depending on the area, this GPS has to speak street names. . . . . . . . . . . not. I could not find the instructions in the book or a menu item to correct this problem, then the mine was defective or lie! I returned for a refund. Rating: 2 / 5

I have TomTom XL 330 two weeks ago at Costco. This GPS you from point A to point B, but does not provide a more efficient management. Some of these cases, giving a shorter route, but did not offset the traffic lights. I used the GPS to show me the map of my house to my work faster using the card. TomTom address is about two miles short of my normal route (12. 9 vs. 15 miles), but the roads and taking the inland route, which has many traffic lights. None of the local drivers will do so. Map Quest, Google Maps, and Garmin Nuvi 650 are shown the same direction. This address is much more correct and the community will be. Another example, I tried to use Tomtom show me the direction of Fairfax, VA Harrisburg, PA. TomTom shows me having 95 N and 695 (Baltimore Beltway), and 83 N. There are a lot of traffic on the route from DC to Baltimore and 20 miles to 270 N Frederick, MD and 15 North through Gettysburg PA. Google Map, Mapquest, Garmin Nuvi 650 and was on track. But thanks for the role of alternate route to enable me to avoid certain roads designated and recalculate the map. Yes, it is a good feature, no doubt, but if I already know what roads to avoid, so I know that my address did not need GPS or TomTom offers to consult MapQuest or Google map before my trip seek the most effective way. I think that the algorithm used to calculate the address of the TomTom device is not smart enough to find the shortest path. I do not know what type of algorithm used. Besides all this, to investigate and calculate the satellite map is excellent. It is very fast and the design is nice, especially the new driving style. This GPS you from point A to point B, but not the best way, but does the job. In my opinion, I’ll go back and get the Tomtom Garmin Nuvi 760. Because the resolution of the Garmin Nuvi 650 is much better than Tomtom and Nuvi 760, is even better. I want a device that I can count and gives me the right direction. The gas is expensive now days. I can not sit in traffic for 20 minutes or take a longer route of 20 miles. I gave this device with two stars because it has a nice design, a large gathering, request satellite fairly quickly, and you from point A to point B. Rating: 2 / 5

When I bought my first GPS for over six years, the satellite relay browser was still unknown to most and very expensive – I remember I paid $ 2. 990.00 for Palm using a browser that use only a guide and almost never like the back. Just arrived in Sao Paulo, the browser was the only option that makes sense at the time to join in a city as large and without reference to me he knew almost nothing about the city. It was a wise decision to purchase that Walker million and hundreds of pay veces.Recientemente bought a new GPS, widescreen TomTomXL 330-S, 4. 3 inches and can provide you with an experience in using GPS, even before they became fashionable and essential accessories for those who want a satellite navigation fast and efficient, which is an excellent product with a prompt treatment, the satellite positions without much delay and easy control software interaction, the Tom Tom Home – what is uploaded on the Internet after connecting the device via USB and provides audible alerts inform fijos . TomTom presence of the radar has a wide range of GPS in different price ranges, however, the XL 330-S is one of those currently offer (agosto/09) one of the most cost purchased outside Brazil beneficio.TomTom normally accompany the maps of the United States and Canada and more than € 70 to buy and download via TomTom Brazilian site. Shortly after the payment confirmation to download and can change the map on the unit – and the card before you leave a copy on your computer to use, where appropriate, in another ocasión.Una features that makes me happier are the warnings of speed cameras – typically about 200 meters from the radar, the device beeps and signals reported in the vicinity of a small radar screen and the speed limit on the road and tracked by the radar not in question – the XL 330-S is also a radar detector, but the location of these updates via TomTom HOME software and the device tells you when you realize that the location is next to the radar informed system. Very good and convenient – and almost all are assigned only to maintain the unity of updates via TomTom Home for the latest references asignada.Un great player, good value for money and make sure you have good resources driving satellite Brazil and other countries (just buy the maps and easily deploy the appliance.)
