It does what it was supposed to do.
Base is solid, works fine in a Wrangler JK, the arm is indeed short as others have mentioned, meaning the device can't really be used in portrait mode (especially Droid X), the phone would be forced to tilt upward towards the roof of the car, and away from the driver, and may even get reflection from the windshield, unless you happen to have an extremely low dashboard. But, I'm using it in landscape mode (gps mode)so it works.

I'm more concerned of the plastic parts may dry out in direct sunlight, and eventually snapping the arm-to-holder connection, is pretty flimsy. It should last a bit, if you're careful.

slips and slides
I bought the carmount for my husband so that he could use the navigation system a bit easier. I had read the reviews and thought that this product would be heavy enough to stay on the dash but it was not. With every turn, it slid off the dash. I decided to return the product but found the return process overly complicated and I am not sure if I will ever get my money back.

Real nice, one improvement should be made for perfection.
This item is great so far. Not only is it heavy and works with differant type devices (as its adjustable) as a dash mount, I use it for a docking station while using DockRunner on my Driod. It works great.

I did have to modify the holder. The weights do not allow for easy hooking up of a power cord. So I cut a hole in the left front "hump", removed the weight bag, and sowed it shut again. Now it is no problem hooking up a power cord on the left side of my Droid while its mounted. Perfect now. It really should come this way, with a space designed for placing a power cord to whatever device you use.

great service. product received as described. worked great to hold my htc droid eris for a gps while vacationing and driving a rental car. does not let phone slip out, stay secure on dash and the volume of the phone is easily heard.

Does the job - needs longer neck.
Holds my Moto Droid, but can't tilt enough to change angle and not have a glare in the day time. I drive a 2005 CR-v so my dashboard is a bit high.

The dashboard bag itself does not slide and is pretty sturdy. The head/holder is pretty good with being able to adjust it to whatever you want it to hold. You don't have to have it to it has a grip on your mobile device since sometimes you want to charge it or use the stereo jack.

But the reason for the 3 stars is that the neck of the holder does not allow you to tilt down enough.

EDIT: added another star because I was able to mess with the neck to angle my Droid better while I drive. Still not perfect but it's definitely better now and I can get the proper use out of it. I do wish it came with a different, bendable neck.
