Doesn't Work
I was excited when I bought this add-on but I am very disappointed after using it. Simply, this product does not work, at least not without buying the external antenna. The GPS itself was expensive when I got it a few years ago but I wanted to get the most out of the GPS so ordered this live traffic add-on. I used the 3-month free trial (in New York area) that came with it and it never worked. Apparently, you must also buy the external antenna for this add-on to work and there is no way I am giving Magellan another red cent. If they had advertised this as needing the external antenna, I would not have gotten this piece of crap. When you add the initial cost of the GPS and then the cost of all the add-ons needed to make this get live traffic, it is not worth it.

Magellan Traffic Kit
Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Came in what looks to be the original packaging. Looks brand new, I'm sure it is! I should be using it sometime within the next month or two. I will be activating it soon!

Great Vendor Great Product
At half the price of Magellan's website. Brand new and it was here in a week. Fantastic.

Magellan TrafficKit is Useless in Phoenix
Making sure that Phoenix was one of the covered areas, I purchased this to help guide us through Phoenix traffic (which is about as bad as any other major city) in the event of a problem on our route. After purchasing the year subscription, I installed it in my vehicle, powered it up, saw the icon in the bottom right corner (which is not there without the traffic kit attached) and tested it out. I also checked the signal strength which read a 10/10 and saw that NAVTEQ was providing the traffic information. I then listened to traffic reports on the radio, along with verifying the traffic reports on my PC on a site that displayed and verified traffic conditions (also provided by NAVTEQ), routed the Maestro to take me on a route which would guide me right through a listed and broadcast traffic problem. Driving that route, the little icon remained as is, with the green triangle, checking the text screen on the Maestro about the traffic status, it claimed no reported traffic problems just as I could already see the backup on the highway.
Calling Magellan customer support gets the same results as if I would ask my dogs the same question. Reaching some offshore center, the idiots that I talked to were very intent on getting my name, adddress, etc.,etc., but when it came time to discuss the problem, it was obvious that they didn't have a clue on how to help, if they even understood what I was asking them. I can now understand why some of the biggest 'big box' stores are clearing out their Magellan products and selling others instead.
So if I am doing something wrong with the programming, I will have to find how how to remedy it myself as Magellan sure as hell doesn't know how to discuss the issue, let alone help me with it.
If you buy one of these Check with the store you get it from concerning their return policy and use the 3 month free subscription (which should be included with the Traffic Kit) to see if yours works.
Live and learn.

don't bother with this
Bought this for my Magellan GPS. I hate it. I still use it while I wait to buy a new one. With out this traffic kit the GPS unit send you on some stupid routes, some times they are just crazy. This kit just adds to it confusion in calculating the routes. I use it just to see the traffic details, they are not even accurate.

If you use it to automatically route based on traffic details you will be taking stupid routes, maybe even go around in circles.

There are better options. I would get lost less just using the maps in rental cars.

Traffic I bought this kit for my Magellan Maestro 4050 GPS kit that my original was stolen traffic in downtown San Francisco last month. The kit was the right model for GPS 4050, but the one I got from Amazon does not have in my GPS. Although I heard the click of the lock, the GPS is not firmly attached to the solution. How do I view GPS on there, I had headaches because the GPS was almost always around some. Finally, I have returned. Rating: 3 / 5

I’ve not had the opportunity to use yet. He arrived at what appears to be the original packaging. It seems new, I am sure it is! This should be using at some point during the next month or two. Neither do I go back! Rating: 5 / 5

I bought my Magellan GPS. I hate it. I still use it while I wait to buy new. With GPS kit that traffic on some routes you send stupid, sometimes crazy. This kit only adds to the confusion in the calculation of routes. I use it just to see the details of the movement, not even precisa.Si it uses to distribute data automatically according to the traffic lanes will be stupid, perhaps even turning in círculos.Hay best options. I lose less by simply using the card on rental cars. Rating: 1 / 5

I was thrilled when I bought this extension, but I am very disappointed after using it. Simply, this product does not work, at least not without buying an external antenna. The GPS itself was expensive when I got a few years ago, but I wanted to make the most of GPS and ordered by the real-time traffic add-on. I used the free trial of 3 months (in the New York area) that come with it and has never worked. Apparently, they also purchase the external antenna for this add-on work and there is no way that I give another penny Magellan. If he had said that the need for an external antenna, I would not have arrived at this piece of shit. When you add the initial cost of the GPS and the cost of all necessary accessories to make this traffic is live, not punishment. Rating: 1 / 5
