A must have got your GPS!
why have a silly cigarette lighter cable hanging off your GPS when you can attach this to your fuse box and give a GPS power dedicated power ? my install is almost invisble - just the mini USB plug sticks out next to my Arkon GPS holder attached to an AC vent. cheap/easy/clean install

Cable too short
The description says that it has a 6ft cable, but in reality is has a run of approx 3 foot, then the transformer/voltage regulator box in the middle and then another 3 foot or so of cable. I was worried from the picture that this may be the case, but thought I would give it a try, and see, since I wasn't certain how long the cable would be in reality....

I was planning to use this to hardwire my GPS in my BMW 335i coupe, and I had a couple of placement options in mind, but in either case, I needed to hide the cable by tucking it into trim gaps, running it down and around dash and then under and into the glove box where I was going to use an add-a-circuit Littelfuse FHM200BP ATO Add-A-Circuit Kitto tie into a spare fuse in the fuse box located there. With the box in the middle, I can't hide the cable as planned and could not find a way to hide the box without taking apart the dash; which is something I wanted to avoid.

To be fair I haven't used the device, so can't comment on its operation, and only scored it low because I think the design does not fit the purpose - I would expect that there are very few cars/locations where you could manage to hide the box easily; and in my mind if you are going to the trouble to hardwire, it is because you want a clean, professional look. If they give you 5-6 feet of run before the box, then I would have been Ok with it...

Why wire a cigarette lighter at the ridiculous when your GPS can attach this to your fuse box and provide a dedicated GPS in power? My installation is almost invisble – the mini USB connector is located next to my GPS Arkon support connected to an air intake. cheap / easy / clean installation Rating: 5 / 5
