Use on my motorcycle, works with gloves!
So after days and days of trying to decide on which one I would get, it came down to this one. My primary use was to find the quickest routes between places in town. I know where I'm going, but I always end up going crazy routes and wasting time.

Like the title says, I use it on my motorcycle. I managed to stick it on the inside of the windscreen just in front of my gauges. As of now, (knock on wood) it hasn't fallen off. The suction cup seems pretty powerful and the GPS actually clips and locks into the cradle, which is also where the power cord goes. That alone makes this awesome. Putting it in and taking it out is no problem because you need not worry about any wires. Plus the place you take it off the mount, it remembers, so if you go into a store and don't remember where you parked, this will direct you back to your ride. Good for us folks with TBI and PTSD.

The screen is plenty bright to use in the daylight. Like I said, mine's on my bike. It is glove friendly and will also work inside a clear plastic pocket on my tank bag with no issues.

Maps are ok. For the most part I have had no problems with them. BUT...if you're military or work on base, the routing system the GPS uses will not take you though the post. Don't get me wrong, it will work on base, it will show the maps, but if you have the option of cutting through base OR having to go 20 miles around it...it will route around every time. Even if you are already on post it will send you to the nearest gate and send you around the outside. I know that it does it because (obviously) not everyone can cut though a military base. It would be a super bonus if you had the option to though.

Garmin Nuvi 295W
Great product. I've had several GPS navigation devices, and this one is one of the better ones I've had. It is small, but loaded with features. It has located every place I've asked it to, and navigated with excellent results. Especially handy is the ability to use Wi-Fi. When arriving in a strange town, it's easy to use the motels Wi-Fi and search Google for places to eat. Also, it's nice to know what the weather outlook is during the stay. Overall, I would recommend this product to anybody who wants an excellent navigation device, with some extras thrown in for good measure.

Great GPS with 2 minor issues
The Garmin Nuvi 295W is very compact and routing nearly perfect. Overall the unit performs very well with accurate spoken street names and destinations. Traveled thru SC, NC, TN, KY, GA recently and did not have any issues the instructions and routing was most efficient route to each destination. The WiFi capability is nice for finding local restaurants and stores after locating a wi-fi hotspot. The Micro SD card is great for music, photos and adding your own points of interest. (Note headphones are needed for music). Time to locate satellites and get past warning screens is a little longer than other Garmin models.
Two issues that may be a deal breaker for some: Very small speaker so sound /voice is difficult to hear at highway speeds or with radio on. Lane Assist is not available with this unit and with the small screen it is sometimes difficult to choose correct lane for exits.

Neat little GPS
I bought this GPS for three reasons: ability to plan/optimize routes, size and price. I feel I got a pretty good deal. It works as well or better than my Nuvi 350. The voice is a little more mechanical than the Nuvi 350, but it is clear and understandable. I did not get it for its wifi capability, but I noticed I cannot connect to one of networks I routinely use. When connected, it has some cool features and works well. The screen is not so small to be unusable. In fact, turned vertical it is really delivers more usable route information than even a wide screen GPS. The speaker is kind of weak, just like a cell phone on 'speaker phone', so it I use it with an FM modulator in the car. I do use this for a motorcycle, so it plays through an amplifier and helmet speakers and works well. I have a MacBook Pro and use Road Trip. The connectivity to a Mac works well once you download support software/drivers(?) from Garmin. I opted for this GPS over the Nuvi 37xx series as it has a resistive screen and I could use it with gloves. Compared to other GPS's it was a pretty good buy, price compared to features.

Decent buy
I'm an EMT in a rural area where I haven't lived for very long. I needed something to help me find my way through country backroads fast and efficiently, and this fits the bill for the most part. The main problems I've had are that it can take a while to locate satellites at first if it hasn't been turned on for a while, which in most applications wouldn't be much of a problem, as at most it's a minute and a half. The next is it doesn't turn with you, which can be briefly confusing if you have to take two quick turns, and change a lane in the process (i.e. a right and a quick left, I get stuck in the right lane). Speaker could be a little louder, as well. Then the last is NO FLASH (programming, or photography). Not much of a problem as it's not it's main purpose, but worth mentioning.

The good parts- Re-routes very fast and effectively, it detoured me very well around flooding with minimal input from me. Very fast web connection, decent signal. Touchscreen works flawlessly and inputs quickly. It's sleek, about the same size as an Android, with very intuitive programming. Have not used the camera much, but it's a nice touch, and 2MP is as much as I'd need on a day to day basis.

In short, it's extremely fast except when initially acquiring satellites after being off for a while, has plenty of features, and is very well programmed. It works well for what I need it for and was a great buy for the one day deal I purchased it for. At full price I would have expected a little more, however.

I’m still bitter that I bought this unit after receiving an email from Amazon to say how great it is and who is the exclusive distributor of it. . . so I sent another email after 2 weeks saying that reducing the price of $ 80 and do not feel like a fool to answer our first e-mail? Ha ha. (In defense of Amazon, they said I could contact Garmin to unregister all the cards I bought the device package and return it, wait for the refund to appear on my credit card , we expect the price has doubled and buy again … I wonder if the exact same unit returned to me?). What happens to a device that seems to do almost everything he’s really not one of them very well. My advice is to buy a netbook, IPAD or similar device to the Internet and email and buy a GPS for navigation. The screen is too small and the pages load too slow to be more frustrating. The battery lasts about 3 hours max so you do not want to lose this time listening to MP3 if you’re afraid of losing you. The device seems to work well if you are in daylight, but not so good inside. A small camera, cheap digital with a flash and a lens of good will to serve you better when viaje.Usted is that if you want CityMaps several pre-load before a holiday, you should separate maps microSD (1 card). All cards use the same file name and if you try to load a second write-in GPS function primera.La of this device has worked well so far and I really want to take a vacation soon. Just do not be able to leave all devices at home that I thought this unit to replace. Rating: 4 / 5

The Garmin Nuvi 295W is loaded with all sorts of interesting features. However, I am not quite sure that this unit is sold a. As a warning, I received this nuvi 295W as a unit test and do not buy for my mismo.Puesto there so many comments and praise all the properties of the Nitty Gritty GPS alone, I’ll provide a brief summary of them. For starters, the unit is a device very attractive. It’s very similar to the recent Garminfone, of course, without the current 3G phone and wireless radios. However, the 295W is solid, has a good weight for him, and has a matte comfortable back I love. The volume rocker buttons are durable and the screen has a smooth feel effective. It is a 3MP camera on the back with a camera button dedicated hard. The only trouble is the real design 2. 5 mm headphone instead of the 3 standard. 5 variante.Si used the Garmin in the past 3 years, you know what the user interface. I have been using a nuvi 265WT recently and there are no surprises here with the 295W. The only difference with the 295W is that it offers a digital compass 360 degrees in a menu. If you love or hate Garmin interface, this device does not change his opinion in all directions. If you have never used a Garmin before, I think it is comfortable, rather than an intuitive experience surpassed only by GPS Mio.Por So this is not a phone and does not have 3G data capabilities. Instead, offer Wi-Fi as a consolation prize. WiFi configuration works well in your home network and I’m working in a local cafe, effortlessly. Obviously, we will not WiFi when you’re on the road, except for coffee stops, so that the intended use of this GPS is a bit confusing. When connected, you can check your email (you can view and send attachments), uses a mobile web browser, get a glimpse of the local climate, and use Google to find places, points of interest nearby. All these applications work quite well, and the touchpad is very easy to use with them. The camera only takes decent photos with 3-megapixel sensor, but can be geotagged with the location and choose to share with friends with a push. In addition, you can download contact information on the 295W with rich e-mail address and street address, and the unit may be directed to any entry with only a few clicks on the question rápida. The screen is: Who is this unit was made for? While the 295W is a very good GPS for the car, and is small enough that I can use my vent cell phone holder to mount, it is still a little lacking in that department. First, text to speech directions are good, but I can not listen when I’m driving over 60 km / h on the highway because the volume of the speaker is too low. Secondly, the screen is not visible enough in the car during the hours of daylight. And finally, it is not compatible with all the free services of traffic upgrade (I tried to connect my FM antenna 265WT drive traffic and a pop-up told me it was a patient of accessories). For me, traffic updates in real time, was the deal breaker, and why 265WT will remain in my car. If no GPS, but you only want for your car, so I look elsewhere, especially for the price (generally, you can get one for less and the 265WT has a lifetime of traffic). Why Should you buy this device? Well, I see potential applications here, although more specialized groups. If you are a heavy traveler and GPS capabilities on your smartphone are weak, or if you have a normal mobile phone, so you can easily do it in a jeans pocket and left in a rental car. In addition, the device works very well while walking. It automatically detects and displays You’re Gone “walking” in the MPH box in the bottom of the navigation screen. Or if you’re only a road / public transport corridor in a big city, this device is not bad for you. Finally, if you’re one of those people who go on treasure hunts geotagging, then this device is well within the wheelhouse with its imaging capabilities geotagging.La else I’ll mention is that the construction above Garminfone of a Google Android. 6 Operating System. If this is also the case of 295W (not sure), there is great potential for downloadable applications to improve the device on the road (pun intended). Maybe you could update the software to enable real-time traffic, or even information on the golf course load and transform it into a 295W all trades apprentice GPS golf too. Even if I paid a premium for some of these hypothetical applications, I finally give this unit six stars out of 5. The Nuvi 295W can be great for geotagging treasure / Walker you, but as it is, the lack of traffic and minor shortcomings mentioned above allows me to give this unit four estrellas.Calificación: 4 / 5

Updated: July 2.2010 The star has landed another false advertising and support to complete pobres. He bought $ 10 card in Las Vegas cityXplorer from the Garmin Web site. After I downloaded it I could not find any evidence that has been installed. I sent a support to see how he was able to confirm it is installed and running. e-mail after three days of back and forth with their support was convinced that I should call. I called support and waited an hour to talk to a guy who will guide me in the very process that had already done. He said, I’ll see the bus on my GPS when I’m in Las Vegas. This is the update? They do not have this device handy to work, and they use addresses other support units that do not have the same menu as the 295W. A few hours after speaking with the technology, I received an email saying that Garmin maps cityXplorer improved pedestrian mode is not compatible with this model. I issued a refund to update maps of Las Vegas. This is a GPS funciona.Mi advertising review is not original: my 3 year old Tom Tom was stolen from the car, so I was forced to shop for a replacement. This unit caught my attention immediately because of the Wi-Fi. I am a card cheap phone, then the idea of smart phone features with no monthly fees sounded good. The family gave me this for Fathers Day and I had two days to play with him. Here are my impressions: The device feels well. Strong and lightweight. Sensitive Touch screen buttons. Good resolution and contrast. Navigation is simple, and less than 20 minutes, he had learned designing applications, menus and interface, and put personal things (house, wi fi, 2 email accounts, home page, and a pair markers.) Very simple. No manual. “I can connect to your computer and recorded in the Garmin Web site. Serial Number is located behind the battery, so I write first. I downloaded the update of the device which took nearly one hour. The map update for a while refused to install. I downloaded it, went to the installation and the file has been damaged. tried again. same result. Well, I’ll try again later. I caught a different vehicle icon and download user manual pdf geo while on the site, then copy both disks in the browser dispositivo.Web – slow but effective. I want to use it for banking , news, stocks, etc., but I do not want to do my Christmas shopping with him! The + and – zoom buttons work as good as pinching the screen (Apple). Wi-Fi signal is good, but not my garage 50 feet from the player enrutador.MP3 – This is an MP3 player that offers basic features such as repeat, random, playlist, album art, etc. The internal speaker is not made for music. The headphone jack is strangely non-standard 3. mm.Apps 5 – great assortment of practice. All I need in a truly portable. The tools are well designed for its intended purpose. Disappointingly, c is that you can not import contacts and calendar. This could save lots of time! e-mail application is grande.Navegación – Google Local Search is one more brilliant for the GPS. It helped me find institutions less known, and provided ratings for restaurants. The satellites are rapidly outside, but I must be near a window to get a signal if the inside. The route calculation is fast. The voice guidance is clear and surprisingly difficult pronunciation of street names. It recalculates a wrong turn in a case of segundos.Monte – The windshield has a quick release button separates the GPS from the mount and the suction cup lever that makes it easy to place or remove the windshield. It is much better than the Tom Tom creado.En Overall I am very pleased with this GPS. It will be great for my basic needs of Travellers. I think it will be particularly enjoyable for exploring a new style pedestrian city. I think this unit will allow me to leave my laptop at home on many trips, avoiding costly monthly charges an iPhone or a droid. I gives it four stars because I really like, but there is room for improvement (standard headphone jack, sync contacts and calendars, or a case included strap, the maps are downloaded correctly) Rating: 3 / 5
