How can you not love this watch?
I read both the good and bad reviews for this watch and realized that all of the gps watches 'appeared' to have shortcomings here or there. Shortcomings supposedly included accuracy, problems with the touch bezel and how long the battery lasted. But I went ahead and purchased this watch about a month ago, and couldn't be happier. I work out before work 4-5 times a week in the morning, and also follow up with a recreational walk/jog in the afternoon a couple of times a week. I found this watch very easy to set up, both using the menu on the watch as well as the software included with the watch. Measurement of distance and heart rate monitoring were very accurate. And after completing a 45 minute jog, the battery life was only down 7-8% consistently.
Another benefit of this watch is the software included with the watch. When I finish with my workout, and set the watch on my desk next to my computer, it will automatically upload the session data and display the workout summary. You can also see a history of your workout, which includes your minute-by-minute heart rate, pace and distance traveled. You can also upload the info to connect.[...]with the push of button and share the info with your friends.
I really love this watch and feel it is well worth the price. I works great and is feature rich in options. Garmin has done a great job with this watch!
A must have
I should have bought one a year ago, perfect training tool! The quick start guide that comes with it leaves little to be desired when it comes to actual functions...make sure you have a friend who has one. But once you learn how to use it, its easy. Love being able to track the data on Garmin's website, love it! Its a must have for a person doing any training, cant be without it.
Great shop
Before buying this Forerunner I had to run in specific places where I knew the distance. With the GPS I can run everywhere and it will inform me the distance run. The Garmin Connect feature at Internet is also great, you can store your exercises results and monitore your evolution. I fully recommend it.
Logged about 150 miles so far...
I have logged about 150 miles so far with the device and I must say I really like it. I have not used others, so I have not basis for comparison. I find the GPS works extremely well. I like all of the features and the ease of uploading my results to my computer and/or the Garmin Connect website. It is not the easiest to use, primarily because it can do so many things and there are a ton of options. I have not devoted the time to customizing it for my personal taste, though I plan to do so soon. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.
For what I need this is 5 stars!
I am still learning how to use this watch to it's utmost! On an almost daily basis I use the GPS, heartrate monitor and timer/pace settings. I love the online tracking service through Garmin. This is a great watch. Each week I go online and watch another video on how to use the watch. There is always something new I hadn't thought of yet. I can't wait to try the course upload so I can follow the predetermined coordinates using my watch as my guide. Just what I need to keep me interested in my daily runs.
I am a bigger guy and my only complaint is the watch band is almost too small. I have to use it on the second to last hole on the band so the end keeper is useless. The velcro band is not a better option. I know, that doesn't really have anything to do with the function of the watch. Just thought I would mention it.

Simply put, the heart rate monitor does not work, period. Garmin Polar computer needs. The GPS functions are very good. I now 405CX on my left wrist and my “old” Polar in my right wrist. When I bought the 405CX at Amazon, I also received “free” Forerunner 50. It did not work. I turned to Amazon for replacement. It did not work. I gave it to my daughter. It did not work for her. Garbage. I guess it still works well as a clock. Rating: 3 / 5

This is a gadget very frustrating. I bought most of its features to work, but has been a challenge, and key elements are still impassable. These are the problems I encountered: 1. The default of Russian debt. Try an initial configuration in Russian. There are no entries in the manuals on how to change language and menu system on board is not helpful when you can not leerlo.2. Quick Start Guide to Information outdated – e. g. the address to download the software on your PC to work with the clock is completely equivocado.3. I was unable to get the clock to synchronize with the console information booth, etc. do not work juntos.4 stimulation. The clock still does not sync with my PC. They feel each other, communicate first, try to transfer information, then flashes “Fail”. Try again two minutes each are within range of each other. It is a common problem. If you search on Google will find hundreds of others in this problem – with esoteric solutions that work for some and not others. None of them work for mí.5. Support. Technical support is not responding. You can keep waiting as long as you want, but nobody could ever meet. This is very frustrante.6. It is difficult to read and difficult to handle when you run. Some of these readings are very small, and the face contact is difficult to handle, then movimiento.7. It is bulky and heavy. I want to be thinner and lighter. I was surprised when I put it. It was as if it was the decade of the total 1980.pod watch, heart monitor, and the foot is about $ 450. 00. Over the years, I had four GPS devices from Garmin, so confident it would meet my expectations. But after a week of frustration, I gave up and returned. I never could get it to communicate with my computer and find it almost impossible to work with on the fly. In addition to technical issues, is not even really waterproof. It’s the most disappointing purchase I have done for years. Garmin Sorry, this has to go back to the drawing board. Rating: 1 / 5
