garmin 405
very nice unit, just a couple of minor issues. in the training mode i wish you had the ability to choose which data field was displayed in large font. the bezel is rather sensitive but i quickly got used to it and found that if you're going to be doing itervals and recording laps it's best to lock out the bezel so that you don't inadvertently switch modes. other than that i'm very happy with the unit and would purchase another.

Unbeatable!!!
For runners there is nothing like Garmin Forerunner 405 or 405CX. Unbeatable precision with a wide range of software resources to program and execute all your training plan.

Solid technology but room for improvement
As a new runner, I was looking for a way to get myself motivated to run, so I read some reviews and decided to go with the Forerunner 405. After spending 10 minutes flipping through the user guide, I was ready to start using my new GPS watch. It has a pretty low learning curve. If you don't read instruction manuals (like me), it took me a minute to figure out how to navigate to the training mode and back to the main menu, but other than that, no real problems.
As far as negatives, I will say I tried out the GPS mode and that left a lot to be desired. For that kind of money, it would be nice to have some kind of graphical map instead of arrows pointing you on a digital compass. The reason I say this is when I got lost in the park at the end of my 6 mile run, I hit the GPS feature to find my way back to my nearby car where I had originally started my workout, but the GPS told me to backtrack 6 miles along the route I had originally come, rather than adapting to find my nearby starting point. I ended up finding my car about a 1/4 mile away, and as I was getting closer to my car, the GPS finally made the connection and adjusted, saying I was 0.1 miles away from my initial starting point.
Overall, a pretty solid product. The syncing ability is nice, I only wish Garmin Connect were more user and communication friendly. It would be great to have message boards where you could find other runners of your ability in the area and try to "compete" against each others' times or contact people and be able to meet up for group runs. It would also be nice to comment on peoples' routes, leaving words of encouragement or helpful tips.

Garmin 405
Í'm enjoying my Gamin 405. It's not so easy, in the beginnig, to use but it has every thing that i need. The GPS works with precision and "the my garmin" web site is so cool to review your training. I recomend this product for persons like me, not a professional sportsman, but a common one.

Device great, software not so much...
I find the Garmin products to be as good as Polar for HRM plus
the GPS is a lot of fun. It is too bad that Garmin's software
isn't quite as good as Polar (though it is getting better and
has the benefit of running on Mac OSX).

Promised by “Q4 2008″, but I’m not holding my breath for that, given all the negative comments on the performance of others. What a bore, which makes the 305 is ugly, but I guess because I stay with what works. Rating: 1 / 5

I had my 405 since May 2008, and although the interface bezel gives me problems. I love this watch / GPS, and I bought the monitor and watch accessories footpod.El hearthrate is a good fit and gives excellent feedback on my performance during the execution. I tried to Nike / iPod and others (fitsense), but the Forerunner 405 is the best ever. Rating: 5 / 5

It is not very pleasant. You need to charge like a cell phone, the touchscreen does not work very effectively. I am sorry I bought it. Rating: 2 / 5

The 405 works very well. 405 Uses for a month and no problems so far. Not being able to synchronize with the computer yet. I do not know if it’s a software fault or a problem of a user. The 405 is expensive but worth the price. Rating: 4 / 5

Pros: Cool technology, integration with other Garmin Connect and Garmin team tengo.Porciones good functionality and útiles.Contras: bracelet is a little stiffer (so within Duh-GPS). Battery using GPS and human resource management is about 6 horas. No is that I can workout for six hours, but if you forget to turn the GPS time was finally stops . Good for the watch menos.Resumen: For Dad’s Day, I have a Garmin 705 bike computer. I had a couple of other HRMS and really did not like the Polar RS120 (really annoying “feature” – shows could not say when running). Thus the 405 seemed like a good extension of my team ran actual.Me and cycling with her and I am very happy with the purchase and the watch face all tinglado.La is a bit like a control iPod, but a little tricky. Just doing things works suave.Las ANT + Garmin Connect works and things in general, there is a large piece of arte.Todavía I try other features and updates to the review which he cumplido.Calificación: 4 / 5
